We extend an invitation to your Department of Mongolian Studies to join with the Mongolian Academians on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Baldan Sodnom. Famous author, Academian, Professor, Scientist, Activist and Philologist credited with helping to bring modern western ideas to Mongolia and opening the study of Mongolia to the western world.
This commemoration for Professor Baldan Sodnom (1908 – 1979) will begin on November 29th and go through December 29th, 2008. The celebration is being held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. We will welcome any comments on Professor Sodnom’s work, on who he was and his contributions to the understanding of Mongolia from you and your Department.
